He then completed his postgraduate medical training in Oxford and subsequently specialist cardiology training in Cambridge, and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in cardiology (UK) qualification. He received the prestigious Wellcome Trust Fellowship to undertake cardiovascular research and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Oxford.
